TGIF, BEARS FANS!!!  I’ve decided to try to resurrect an old favorite of mine, Bear Dawn.  It’s the latest Chicago Bears news from around the interwebs.  Here’s what you need to know for Friday May 22, 2015 as we’re set to kick off Memorial Day weekend…

Can you believe it’s been 30 years since the Bears Super Bowl season of 1985?  Me neither.  It feels like just yesterday, I was writing about the 25th anniversary of the ’85 Bears.  For #TBT (that’s Throwback Thursday for you non-Twitter folks), we’re looking back at each of the 1985 games.  We start, where else, at the beginning with a Week 1 comeback win over the lowly Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Bears are ranked #4, dropping three spots, in the latest ESPN NFL Uniform Power Rankings.  Of course, they’re somehow behind Green Bay’s hideous green and gold.  Here’s what Paul Lukas had to say about the Bears uniforms:

"The color scheme is as effective as ever, the matching stripes on the sleeves and socks are still the envy of most other teams, the unique number font is still instantly recognizable, and the Monsters of the Midway throwback has become a nice annual ritual. So why have the Bears dropped three spots in this year’s rankings? Two reasons: First, the helmet logo is starting to feel a bit dated. And all the old-school trappings don’t work well with Nike’s Flywire collar. Several other teams — including all three of the ones ranked above the Bears on this year’s list — have opted not to use that collar style. The Bears would be smart to do likewise."

Not surprisingly, Jay Cutler ranked in the bottom half dozen of passers against the blitz.

Da Bears Beat says that Ed Donatell is actually the key to the Bears secondary:

"Ed Donatell has a track record of not only working with future hall of fame cornerbacks and safeties but also taking unheralded, mid/late-round pick defensive backs and developing into quality, if not above-average starters. This is not to say that Donatell was the only reason these players were successful, but he certainly played a significant role in helping many of them out-play their draft slot."

Jeff Dickerson takes a look at the reshaped Bears wide receiver group.

Jermon Bushrod is heading back to his hometown to raise some funds for his foundation.

This from a couple of days ago.  Da Bears Blog’s Jeff Hughes doesn’t really care for the new extra point rule.

The Bears rank 144th out of 333 global professional sports franchises in ESPN’s Global Salary rankings with each player on the Bears averaging $2.2 million.
