The Chicago Bears had one of the best overall drafts in recent history and signed some interesting undrafted free agents as well. Over the next week Beargoggleson will be breaking down the Bears draft picks and the undrafted free agents with a legitimate shot to make the 2015 roster. With a new management team taking over the leadership of the Bears and the Bears transitioning to new schemes on both sides of the ball, there will be significant roster turnover. Rumors are already circulating about some veteran players and recent draft picks that may not be on the roster in 2015. With all of the turnover in the front office and coaching staff, there is more of an opportunity than usual for rookies to make the team.

CB Bryce Callahan, Rice

Overview:

Callahan was one of my favorite day 3 slot corner prospects coming into the draft, I had the Bears taking him in round 6 of my first two mocks. He ultimately fell out of the draft, but the Bears signed him in the priority undrafted free agent stage. The Bears have promising youngster Demontre Hurst and 2-time Pro Bowler Tim Jennings vying for the slot position, but it never hurts to have more talent in the mix. Callahan is actually quite similar to Hurst, who I was also high on before last season, in that they are both ultra-aggressive slot corners who play much bigger than their size. If Callahan was a few inches bigger and 20 pounds heavier, he would have been a day 2 pick. He’s not though and he has his work cut out for him to earn a spot in a Bears secondary that is more talented than most analysts give them credit for. Of all the Bears undrafted free agents, Callahan has the best shot to make the team in my opinion and I’ll explain why below.
