Chicago Bears News: Kevin White’s Shin and Day 6 Update

Happy Thursday Bears fans!  Training camp is in full swing and we’ve already had our first salty John Fox moment.  Before you know it, the Bears and Green Bay Packers will be playing the season opener on September 11th.  Here’s the latest Chicago Bears news following the Day 6 of training camp.

We have a Kevin White update: It’s just shin splints!  It took a week down in Bourbonnais before head coach John Fox finally copped to the nature of the mysterious shin injury.

"“You can call it splints, call it whatever you want,” he said. “You see him out here. It’s not like we’re covering up some awful injury where he’s in a cast, a boot and crutches. We’ve got a plan for him.”"

Why it’s been several weeks and he still can’t run on it is beyond me.

It was also Jay Day on Wednesday.  Jay admitted it was a rough day at the office while offensive coordinator Adam Gase was effusive in his praise of Cutler and his large brain:

"“His intelligence is way better than what I thought,” Gase said. “His ability to communicate with his teammates [is impressive] because he’s further ahead than everybody else. He’s able to get our wideouts on the same page.”"

If there’s one benefit of the revolving door of offensive coordinators, it’s that Jay’s become an expert in learning offenses.  Wouldn’t it be ironic if Jay became an OC someday?  Cutler is already going to great lengths to relate to his much younger teammates.

Could the Shea McClellin thing actually be working at inside linebacker?  He’s starting to raise a few eyebrows among the beat writers.

Alshon Jeffery returned to practice after suffering a shoulder injury on Monday while cornerback Alan Ball returned from a foot injury.

It’s wasn’t all good news at camp.  Michael Ola had to be carted off the field with a leg injury, but was seen walking around in a sleeve after practice.

Rookie Tayo Fabuluje had to leave practice early with an asthma attack, but he should be fine.

The Bears made a roster move, adding tight end Kevin Greene while waiving/injured tight end Brian Vogler.

It was a star-studded practice on Wednesday, with a lot of big names in attendance…
