2016 NFL Mock Draft 1.0: Round 2
It’s finally mock draft time again! These are my favorite posts of the season, so I apologize in advance for more mock drafts then anyone needs. Like the last few years, I’m going to start with just the first three rounds in versions one & two and then expand to full seven rounders as we get closer to the draft. I’ll also have a few Bears-only seven rounders over the next two months.
With just under three month until the 2016 NFL Draft (April 28-30) a lot will change between now and then. Players still have to participate in individual pro days and of course the combine will impact draft stocks significantly. Every year a few players boost their stock with better than expected combine results and every year a few players drop out of the draft completely by failing their drug test at the combine. This mock may look way different in a few months, but I will be releasing new versions roughly every two to three weeks.

Mock Draft 1.0: Round 2
32.) Cleveland Browns – WR Corey Coleman, Baylor
The Browns have had the worst receiving core in the league since losing Josh Gordon to multiple drug offenses, bur Coleman would give the Browns a legit play-maker and deep threat to team up with 1st round pick Carson Wentz. If the Browns are going to draft the QB with the biggest arm in the draft it makes sense to give him a deep threat. Colemen is one of the fastest WRs in the draft and can also make things happen on short passes after the catch. If the Browns can somehow get Josh Gordon back as well, Wentz would have a dangerous combination of Colemen, Gordon and breakout tight end Gary Barnidge to drastically turn around a boring Browns offense.
33.) Tennessee Titans – RB Derrick Henry, Alabama
The Titans have spent draft picks on running backs in the last two drafts (Sankey, Cobb), but neither has looked like a legit NFL running back. They could use a between the tackles running back and there may not be a better one in this draft than Derrick Henry and he could take pressure off Mariota and open things up for the Titans offense. Henry is a beast and could provide a workhorse back to control the game between the hash-marks, opening up the edges for Mariota to roll out and find DGB, Kendall Wright, and Delanie Walker outside while opening up running lanes for Mariota. With the right offseason moves, the Titans offense could be significantly better in 2016.
34.) Dallas Cowboys – DE Kevin Dodd, Clemson
The Cowboys got a respectable season out of Greg Hardy at DE last season, but it sounds like they are willing to let Hardy go due to his significant distractions off-field. Dodd was overshadowed by Shaq Lawson last year but his stats were almost as good with 12 sacks and 23.5 tackles for loss. Lining up Dodd across from 2013 2nd round pick Demarcus Lawrence gives the Cowboys too young pass rushers who should make things difficult on opposing QBs in 2016.
35.) San Diego Chargers – WR Michael Thomas, Ohio St
Once the Chargers lost Kennan Allen last season, they had nothing else at the receiver position. Thomas is coming off two productive seasons at Ohio St (1,580 yards, 18 TDs) and has the size (6’3 | 210) and speed (4.51) to be a play-maker at the NFL level. If Allen is healthy a combination of Allen, Thomas, and either Gates or Ladarius Green could vastly improve the Chargers offense.
