Before last week’s game, the Chicago Bears had only one player listed on their injury list. After their disappointing loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Bears (0-2) now have a whopping 16 players on the injury list heading into their battle against the Dallas Cowboys (1-1) on Sunday Night Football. In addition, outside linebacker Lamarr Houston has been placed on injured reserve with a torn ACL.

The ailing Bears will have to find a way to avoid starting the 2016 NFL season 0 for 3, and will have to do so without starting quarterback Jay Cutler. Head coach John Fox mentioned that Cutler, who has a sprained right thumb, is listed as day-to-day, but has not participated in practice through Thursday of this week. Eight-year veteran Brian Hoyer will more than likely be the starting QB for Chicago, seeing that the Bears have brought up Matt Barkley from the practice squad.

More from Chicago Bears News

Outside linebacker Danny Trevathan is out indefinitely with a sprained thumb, which required surgery. Along with Trevathan, safety Adrian Amos is still under the league’s concussion protocol, while nose tackle Eddie Goldman is on the shelf with an injured ankle. Cornerback Kyle Fuller, who hasn’t played so far this season due to his knee, has had limited participation in practice. Unexpectedly, left guard Josh Sitton (elbow) and outside linebacker Willie Young (knee) also had limited participation in practice on Thursday, after practicing with no restrictions on the day before. But the biggest surprise is seeing wide receiver Alshon Jeffery not participating at all on Thursday because of his knee.

With all of these distractions, one can say that things are looking really bleak for the Bears this coming Sunday night. Although I don’t think there is much need for me to go into detail of which team will have the upper hand in this Week 3 battle, I’ll go ahead and do it anyway. Continue on, if you dare.
