What does each center need to show in training camp?

The Bears come into training camp with a strong interior offensive line. It will be a good position to watch, and the health and progression of each player will be key to the Bears having offensive success. What should you be watching for from each center?

Cody Whitehair

What more do you need to see from Whitehair? He was tremendous from his first snap of the season to his last. Whitehair should have locked down the center position for the near future, and the arrow should be pointing up to a big season. What is remarkable is that Whitehair was a rookie who profiled as a guard when drafted. He had only a small dose of experience at guard, so getting a full offseason of work and studying at center, this could be a much-improved player. With more experience, Whitehair can ascend even higher and become an elite center for years to come.

Hroniss Grasu

You are looking for the health status of Grasu. Grasu was a starter who lost his job when he tore his ACL last season. Now, he enters camp as a clear backup. Still, as a backup, the Bears quite possibly have the deepest interior offensive line corps in the NFL. If he can show he has his legs and lateral agility back, it would be a huge boost to the overall talent and ceiling of the team.

Taylor Boggs

Boggs is a camp body. He has bounced around the league and has not found a home anywhere. He is insurance for Grasu, and most fans would hope that he winds up being a late August cut.
