Hot Take Tuesday: The Incoherent Rantings of a Belligerent Bears fan.

Let’s start here- Mitch Trubisky was dreadful on Sunday night against the LA Rams. It was probably the worst start of his NFL career.

With their quarterback doing his best Nathan Peterman performance, the Chicago Bears went out there and beat the team with the NFL’s best record.

Think about that!

Are you kidding me? How is that possible? No team in the NFL should be able to win a game when their QB plays like that against any team, let alone arguably its best team!

That just tells you how good the Chicago Bears are.

This team is no longer flying under the radar and every hater in the country has now shut their hole. Not even, “Yeah, but Trubisky,” works anymore. Fans and media, and more importantly the rest of the league, know what they saw on Sunday night- a Super Bowl contender.

That’s right, I said it. Super. Bowl. Contenders. No, the Chicago Bears aren’t getting home field and they aren’t getting a bye, but they are going to get a home game and the defense just proved how difficult it’s going to be to win in Soldier Field in January.

Even though Chicago would have to arguably win two road games against two great teams, want to know how I know the Bears are contenders? Because I guarantee you both the New Orleans Saints and the Rams will be cheering against the Bears. Nobody wants to face this defense. Nobody.

Think about what the defense accomplished. They basically shutout the Rams. They gave up six points and one field goal was on a short field thanks to a Trubisky interception and the other field goal they needed a fake punt to get it done. That’s insane. Here’s a nugget I dug up:

How is that possible? How can one defense dominate an elite offense by this type of margin? When you’re good, you’re good. When you’re great, you’re great. The Bears’ defense is better than great.

Let’s pause for one paragraph and collectively laugh at all the Pace haters. Every. Single. One. Hear those crickets? That’s the Pace Hater Camp. They have nothing to complain about and they are sitting in stunned silence. Think about how this season is ruined for them because they are so desperate to be right about Pace that they can’t even enjoy it.

If you come across a Pace hater and they bring up Mike Glennon or Robbie Gould or Markus Wheaton or any other stupid reason they want to use to complain about Pace, just ask them one question- who built the defense? When they say, “Yeah, but…” Cut them off and ask them who built the defense?

Who drafted Bilal Nichols, Eddie Goldman, Leonard Floyd, Roquan Smith, Adrian Amos and Eddie Jackson? Who signed Akiem Hicks, Danny Trevathan and Prince Amukamara? Who chose to match Kyle Fuller? Who found Bryce Callahan? And of course, who traded for Khalil Mack?

Who? Ryan Pace, that’s who. He built the best defense in the NFL. Bag it, Pace haters.

Quick Hits

  • James Daniels was soooooo good against Aaron Donald. I’m still in awe. What a performance.
  • Could Trubisky still have been hurt? He was flat awful but his arm angle seemed off, not sure what was going on there but obviously they need a much better Mitch moving forward.
  • Akiem Hicks continues to be one of the most underrated defensive lineman in the NFL. He’s an elite interior defender. His name should be brought up with the likes of Aaron Donald and JJ Watt. Yup, I stand by what I said.
  • Roquan is going to be silly good.
  • Khalil Mack gets mugged constantly. Look at the photo I used from the forced fumble, he’s being hugged! No call. I know the NFL wants to protect QBs but can we get one holding call per game?
  • I love that the one defensive player Sean McVay didn’t mention in that overrated clip was Eddie Goldman, he, who with his two points on Sunday outscored Todd Gurley.
  • Santa’s Sleigh- awesome, just awesome.
  • I love this team, not only are they great, they’re fun. Check out this celebration that the defense did after Roquan’s INT, NBC cut away for some reason:

How can you not love this team? The amount of fun they are having on the field is contagious. These defensive celebrations are a must watch and you can see truly how much this team loves each other with every single one of these. Bear Down!
