The Chicago Bears offense did not explode in Week 2, but there are reasons to believe it will continue to get better

The Chicago Bears won an impressive game at Denver, no matter how you slice it. The offense was not impressive, the defense struggled to put a team away late, but at the end of the day, the team walked away with a victory.

One of the bigger concerns from fans was the lack of production by the offense. The team failed to score 20 points in back to back weeks and Mitch Trubisky has not gone over 250 yards in a game yet.

However, as the season progresses, the offense should start to mold an identity and progress forward. These five reasons should give Bears optimism despite a slow offensive start.

5. Return of Anthony Miller and Trey Burton

Was Anthony Miller banged up, or in the dog house? A little of both? We will never know for sure why Javon Wims and Cordarelle Patterson out-snapped Miller in Week 1 and saw much bigger roles. However, in Week 2, Miller was the third wide receiver in terms of snaps.

No, Miller did not set the world on fire. However, he did get integrated back into the offense. His role and progression will come with last week as the starting point. His return also puts Tarik Cohen back into a role as a splash player, and not a slot wide receiver.

The offense also got Trey Burton back. The Bears are 13-4 when Burton plays and 0-2 when he is out injured. The offense looks different when he is on the field. His versatility gives the Bears a variety of different looks and alignments. He also can help reveal defensive coverages pre-snap. These two did not stuff the stat sheet, their returns will have impacts.
