#85 2012- Mark Sanchez QB New York Jets 2883 yards passing 13 Td’s 18 Int’s I’m pretty sure that Sanchez could be the worst fantasy QB of all-time. I really can’t believe he even showed up in the Top 95 but it shows how many points QB’s get consistently if they start all year even in a terrible offense.

Retro #85 2002- Curtis Conway WR New York Jets Conway stacks in a lot of Chicago Bears all-time receiving records but this was on the downward slide of his career with the Jets. He caught 57 Balls for 852 yards and 5 Td’s. Conway didn’t play the last 6 weeks of the season and was actually in line for a huge year before he was injured.

2013 Look Ahead #85

ESPN- Mike Williams- WR Tampa Bay Bucs Williams had an inconsistent season but still managed 918 yards receiving but only 5 Td’s with most the big plays going to Vincent Jackson. Williams and the Bucs offense needs show progress but they are very frustrating to watch at times.

CBS Sportsline- Tavon Austin- WR St Louis Rams CBS is higher on Austin than ESPN but a lot of people like Austin for the sole reason there isn’t many other options for Bradford to throw to in 2013.

#86 2012- Jeremy Maclin WR Philadelphia Eagles 69 catches 857 yars 7 Td’s Maclin has been very consistent under Andy Reid, but now Chip Kelly has the keys to the Eagles offense and Kelly likes to run the ball. Besides Kelly’s offense there is the question on who will be throwing the ball in Mike Vick or Nick Foles. Lots of questions and plenty of reasons to avoid Eagles receivers this season.

Retro #86 2002- Atlanta Falcons Defense- 48 sacks 24 interceptions 15 forced fumbles and 2 Td’s The Falcons always seem to be a defense if you pick up they don’t win weeks or lose weeks for you which is pretty vanilla.

2013 Look Ahead #86

ESPN- Josh Gordon Wr Cleveland Browns The Browns were very competitive so expect more of the same and better stats from Gordon. The one thing most owners will want to see is a few more TD’s this year than the 5 Gordon collected in 2012.

CBS Sportsline-Danario Alexander-WR San Diego Chargers- Alexander and Malcom Floyd are big targets but both need Phillip Rivers to rediscover whatever he has been missing the past few years to make them fantasy stars instead of #2 and #3 options.

#87 2012- Shayne Graham K Houston Texans- Graham scored the most points of his career while missing the most field goals of his career in his first season with the Texans. Granted most of the misses were from 45 yards or deeper but this is 2013 and NFL kickers have to make these kicks. The Texans offense creates a lot of chances so whether it’s Graham or someone else whoever kicks for the Texans is a good option for your franchise.

Retro #87- 2002 Troy Brown WR New England Patriots- 97 catches for 890 yards and 3 Td’s Brown was a perfect fit for the Patriots offense and was a decent backup fantasy Wr. Brown’s best season was 2001 and his stats slipped every year after, but he has some Super Bowl rings

2013 Look Ahead

ESPN- Ryan Matthews RB San Diego Chargers- Will Matthews potential and production ever come together. Matthews looks like he could be a total stud but never puts a whole season together. Matthews has to be a Top 5 player traded in our dynasty league over the past three years.

CBS Sportsline- Dennis Pitta TE Baltimore Ravens- Pitta was a hot property early in the season then his productions cooled off dramatically. Pitta was on the Ravens Super Bowl team so the last thing people see usually effects draft status.

#88 2012- Torrey Smith WR Baltimore Ravens 49 catches 855 yards 8 TD’s. With Anquan Boldin leaving town it will be Smith’s show and after his sensational playoff run expect Smith to go higher than his production would warrant in most drafts. Smith is a home run hitter so if you are in a point per reception league he’s not your man.

Retro #88- 2002 Jim Miller 1944 yards passing 13 Td’s 9 Int’s Even though Miller would stick around the NFL for a few years the one time Bears QB threw his last pass in 2002 a year after the Bears improbable playoff run that ended when Hugh Douglas ended Miller’s season in the playoffs. Miller never was really a fantasy option but of course he was my backup QB in 2002 until he lost his starting job.

A Look Ahead 2013

ESPN-Isaiah Pead RB St Louis Rams- This is purely a guess between him and Darryl Richardson on who will be RB1 in St Louis with the departure of Stephen Jackson. Pead is suspended for Week 1.

CBS Sportsline-Mikel LeShoure RB Detroit Leshoure should be ready for training camp but now will have to deal with Reggie Bush in the backfield. LeShoure will more than likely be the short yardage guy in 2013 so in TD leagues he could be a valuable backup.

Our dog days are at #89 and today’s player didn’t live up to pre-season expectations even though his stats when looking at them were not that bad.

2012 #89- Brandon Lloyd Wr New England Patriots 158 points 74 catches for 911 yards and 4 TD’s. Lloyd had a decent year but when he signed on to catch balls from Tom Brady many had Lloyd penciled in as a Top 10 fantasy receiver which didn’t materialize.

Retro #89- 2002 Tennesse Titans Defense- The Titans finished with 40 sacks 14 interceptions 11 forced fumbles and 4 Td’s. They came on during the 2nd half of the season scoring double digits in 5 out of the last 8 weeks.

2013 Look Ahead #89

ESPN- Andre Brown RB New York Giants- With Bradshaw gone Brown will have a chance to carry the ball along with David Wilson. He will be the short yardage, goal line guy for the G-men. Brown scored 8 TD’s from 2 yards or closer.

CBS Sportsline- Mike Wallace WR Miami Dolphins A new address and a whole lot of unknown down in Miami for Wallace. Will they be able to get Wallace the ball enough to make Wallace startable week in and week out or just a spot starter depending on the matchup?

WAIVER WIRE

It’s hard to due to roster size in eveyone’s leagues to tell who is on your waiver wire, but here are some pickups that could be out there.

- Josh Freeman- Hide him on your roster for your bye week if you have room.

-Alfred Morris- He was a hot name at draft time so he should be on a roster but if he’s not scoop him up now

-Dexter McCluster- Some sights have him listed as WR and not RB either way he’s a big piece of Chiefs passing game

- Jonathan Dwyer- Mendenhall will be a question mark for a few more weeks

-CJ Spiller- If you picked Fred Jackson you should already have him. If he’s available pick him up now!!

The Waiver Wire question is the top 3 Wr picks had big weeks ones but are you ever really going to start them over Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson or even Austin Miles? It’s almost fool’s gold unless proven wrong over a few weeks but here are the names

James Olgetree- owned in .2 % of leagues before Wednesday and 87% after! Gotta love prime time opening games

Stephen Hill- Could be the real deal still would like him in a better situation

James Jones- He’s only good if he gets in the end Zone #3 option if not lower

Alshon Jeffery- Still cautious would like to see his defined role for a few weeks

Martellus Bennett- Former team + prime time equal fools gold

Don’t Let Your Opponent Out Work You!!

For the first time since September 1948 when the Rams beat the Lions 44-7, the NFL will be playing a Wednesday night game. The kick off of the season was moved to Wednesday thanks to President Obama and the Democrat National Convention. The new opening night tradition of the defending Super Bowl Champ opening on Thursday Night began in 2004, with the defending champ winning every one of the games.

Opening night is of course the NY Giants versus the Dallas Cowboys, and both teams have lineups full of fantasy players. If you have Cowboys or Giants on your roster DON’T forget to set your lineup for Wednesday’s game. Most people that are in fantasy leagues probably can’t believe that reminders have to be posted, but there is one guy in every league that always is too busy and forgets so this is just a friendly reminder!

Here are my picks for this week

Quarterback

Drew Brees-Mandatory Credit: Chuck Cook-US PRESSWIRE

Stud- Drew Brees- He’s a must start almost every week. Brees shouldn’t have any difficulites versus the Redskins defense

Dud- Matt Ryan- Struggled on the road opening day the past two seasons. KC is a tough place to play with a solid defense returning from last year

Sleeper- Peyton Manning- Tim Tebow put up big numbers against the Steelers in Denver last January no reason Peyton can’t do the same even if it is against “reputation” Steelers D

Running Back

Arian Foster (Credit-USPRESSWIRE)

Stud- Arian Foster- Going against Miami at home should be a huge day

Dud- Fred Jackson- Jets D may not be as dominate as in the past but it shuts down running backs. Premiere Jackson next week if possible

Sleeper- Doug Martin- Rookie has prime chance for big opening day against the Carolina D that was pitiful against the run last season.

Wide Receivers

Dez Bryant- Mandatory Credit: Douglas Jones-US PRESSWIRE

Stud- Dez Bryant- In four games against the Giants Bryant has recorded a TD in each game.

Dud- AJ Green- You drafted him high but he goes against the Ravens D which is getting older but doesn’t allow explosive plays

Sleeper- Pierre Garcon- RGIII main target against a defense without any bounties to collect could lead to big day.

Tight End

Jimmy Graham- Mandatory Credit: John David Mercer-US PRESSWIRE

Stud- Jimmy Graham- Saints will feed him the ball a lot

Dud- Coby Fleener- Lucks BFF will have to wait a week to become a factor in fantasy

Sleeper- Owen Daniels- He won’t put up 100 yard games anymore but he is sneeky about finding the end zone at least once

Defense

D.J. Moore- Mandatory Credit: Marilyn Indahl-US PRESSWIRE

Stud- Chicago Bears- They should have a LUCKy day week one

Dud- Pittsburgh Steelers- Something about Peyton Manning’s return that spells doom for the Steelers D

Sleeper- Buffalo Bills- More a testament of the Jets offense than an improving Bills defense

Good Luck and dominate Week #1 in your leagues!!
