If you have been with us all season, you might remember a post where all of our so-called experts predicted the Bears 2010 season record by picking each game individually. Yours truly had initially picked the Bears to finish 11-5 and even I thought that was crazy, so I reviewed my picks and knocked the wins down by one predicting a 10-6 finish. I should have gone with my gut, but oh well. Bart was the only other guy from BGO to predict a playoff berth for the Beloved, so kudos to him too. As for Boomer (8-8), City (8-8) and especially Gavin (6-10) there is still room for ya on the bandwagon…cuz we’re fixin’ to drive it all the way to Dallas for a little ballgame on February 6, my friends. Afterall, Peter King recently predicted the Bears will lose to the Packers in the NFC Championship game this year, so by my count, with King’s record at picking against the Bears, I like our chances…

CAN I GET AN AMEN?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

It’s one of the most routine plays in football. We take it for granted all the time. In fact, when Fred Jackson scored, I already assumed a tie game. Oops, spoke too soon.

To a very casual observer (like my wife who knows virtually nothing about football), they might think that touchdowns are worth 7 points. As a matter of fact, touchdowns are only worth 6 and it’s the Point After Touchdown (PAT) that makes virtually all touchdown effectively worth 7 points. On Sunday, Ryan Lindell had a long streak of consecutive PAT’s snapped thanks to an Israel (Izzy) Idonije block in what proved to be a critical play in the game. Why do I think this was such a key play? Why is a blocked extra point the difference in a 3-point game? Follow me after the jump to find out.

The time has come for me to climb on my pulpit and do some pounding, gang. Now, this isn’t the pounding you might be expecting, ye of dirty minds…

Let me start by admitting that I have always been a Lovie Smith apologist. I have had frequent conversations with Boomer about his other blog Fire Lovie Smith and how I felt that the problems with the Bears cannot be soley pinned on Lovie. And while that may still be true, I have NEVER been so mad as hell as a Bears fan with the performances in the last two games and specifically that pile of steaming crap I saw yesterday. You can ask anyone, I am always the “glass is half full guy” when it comes to the teams I love. But, in the immortal words of Da Coach, “this too shall pass…”

One of the few highlights from Saturday’s preseason loss was Matt Forte’s long touchdown run against the Raiders. First, take a look at the video from NFL.com here. Trust me, it will work much better if you watch the video. Then follow me after the jump.
