How better to open the Jay Cutler era than in Prime Time at Lambeau?  In 10 years, we hope to see the stat of how many quarterbacks the Packers have used since Jay Cutler joined the Bears!  Huge start the season on the right foot.  W

Sept. 20 PITTSBURGH, 3:15 p.m., CBS

The defending champs saunter into Soldier Field for the home opener way too cocky and fail to realize these are not the old Chicago Bears.  Roethlisberger?  Who needs ‘em when you’ve got Cutler?  W

Sept. 27 at Seattle, 3:05 p.m., FOX

The Seahawks are always tough at home with the “12^thMan” and all that crap, but the last time the Bears rolled into town, their backfield was Benson and Grossman – now we have Forte and Cutler.  W

Oct. 4 DETROIT, noon, FOX

This game may have sealed Kyle Orton’s fate in Chicago.  Old Neckbeard was having a decent season last year ’til he was injured late in the first half.  Even after he came back from his injury, he never regained his early-season form.  But hey, now we’ve got Cutler.  Big W (more…)

Reason #499 to hate Jared Allen

If the fact that he’s a Viking and that stupid mullet aren’t reason enough, check out this post on the Vikings blog. Hey Jared, you’re not rushing against John St. Clair or John Tait any more.  We’ll see what Orlando Pace has to say about that!  By the way, where you from Jared?  Texas?  Only two things come out of Texas, steers and queers and I don’t see no horns under that mullet!

Pre-Draft Interview

Here’s why Carol Slezak has replaced Jay Mariotti as the dumbest person in Chicago.  You’ll recall Carol also advocated for the Bears to go after Michael Vick.  Is she going for the all-convict team?

Pre-draft position by position analysis – Wide Receivers

Dan Pompei has started an in-depth position-by-position analysis over at the Tribune.  Especially interesting to see his top wide receivers.  When I say in-depth, I mean in depth.  If the Bears draft a guy not on his list, he is WAY under the radar.

2009 Schedule Announcement next week

In case you haven’t heard, the NFL is announcing the 2009 schedule in prime time on Tuesday, April 14th.  If that’s not reason enough to get out of bed, I don’t know what is.  Of course, we’ll have all the details including our predictions here next week.

My first reaction in glancing at the first games is that Green Bay and Oakland will have at least two national games; one each on opening weekend and another on Thanksgiving as the Pack head to Detroit and the Raiders off to Big D.  The Raiders also cap off a Monday night double header against San Diego on September 14th.  Oakland with two national games?  Did I miss something?  Since when do they merit even being shown in Oakland.   So get ready for plenty of shots like this one.

More details from the NFL owner’s meetings should be forthcoming this week, while the rest of the schedule should be released in April.
