Aaron Berry, welcome to the unemployment line where 8.2% of Americans unfortunately reside right now!  You made your (bad) choices and now you have to live with them.  The difference Mr. Berry is that your an undrafted free agent with a minimal salary cap hit unlike the rest of your teammates. Your teammates  have made similar bad choices but are worth more to the team, and they are only waiting to here from Roger Goodell about their fates!

An example was going to be made in Detroit by the Lions organization or Goodell.  The Detroit Lions organization acted first and released Aaron Berry from the team.  He had run with the first team defense at corner back this off season but the glass half full Lions fan will say that Berry was at a similar talent level to the rest of the corner backs in camp.  The Lions franchise had to save some face this off season so they set Berry free.  Will training camp finally end the arrests for the Lions, or will their undisciplined actions follow them to training camp?

For the 2nd time in a month Aaron Berry was arrested in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Berry was arrested on three counts of assault by the Harrisburg Police Department Saturday morning.  The only thing released about the arrest was that a handgun was involved.  Berry was also arrested in June for a DUI charge.  The Detroit Lions do not lack for publicity this off season.

It almost feels like the Lions have slipped back into pre-Roger Goodell mode when there were not any repercussions for getting arrested!  Granted Goodell isn’t going to bring down the hammer like he did to the New Orleans Saints for Bounty-Gate to the Lions, but his justice will be felt by the Detroit organization.  He must be getting very agitated with each passing day and arrest.

The Lions training camp starts on July 26th which has to be a huge relief to the Lions organization and Coach Schwartz. This off season will finally come to an end, but is it too late to gain any type of control of this organization?  Granted nobody will remember this off season of turmoil if the Lions make a deep run in the playoffs, but if they fall flat on their collective faces one would think heads will roll for this never ending trip to jail.

Discipline? What Discipline??

The notion that the Detroit Lions lack discipline continues to grow larger and larger with each and every arrest.  The latest and sixth of the off season came Saturday night when penciled in starting cornerback, Aaron Berry was charged with DUI, 2 counts of accidents involving unattended vehicles, and 2 counts of stop and render aid leaving the scene of an accident.  Way to fill out the stat sheet in one accident! The accident and arrest took place in Harrisburg, Pa.

Berry issued an apology today; I’m pretty sure Nick Fairley dropped it off for him.  Berry is the 4th player arrested on 6 different occurrences.  With the  lack of  discipline that Ndamukong Suh shows on the field, it appears the rest of the roster is trying to prove its lack of discpline off the field!  Coach Jim Schwartz should start taking applications for a full-time Bail Bondsman for his coaching staff since he doesn’t teach any discipline to his young team on or off the field.

Berry, who is entering his 3rd season, has a career total of 34 tackles and 1 interception. When the Lions seaon starts, he, along with Chris Houston are supposed to be the starting cornerbacks. That’s even though, Berry has only played in 12 games in his short career due to shoulder injuries.

It was BEARly worth mentioning, but they are our rivals!
