The Bears addressed their free safety need by selecting safety Major Wright out of Florida. What do you think of the move?

Fearless Predictions for the 2010 Chicago Bears Draft

With Round 1 in the rearview mirror, it’s time for the Bears to get busy. Hopefully the Bears spent the night turning over every stone to make the most of their 5 picks. Here are my Fearless Predictions for the 2010 Chicago Bears Draft:

No matter who they take and when they take him, this will be the player the Bears targeted all along.
They will be shocked that he fell to them where they drafted.
They will love his athleticism.
They will believe that he can contribute immediately.
They will at least attempt to trade down. Jerry Angelo likes to hoard draft picks and with only 5 picks, he’ll get an itch.
Whoever they select may or may not be able to jump out of a swimming pool.
The Bears will draft a defensive linemen. They always do.
They will draft at least one offensive lineman. Because they desperately need one.
They will get someone for the secondary, but not necessarily a safety in round 3.

We’ll see how I do. For the Bears’ sake, I hope they do better than me.

Jerry Angelo’s Draft Plans – Don’t Draft Nudists

Jerry Angelo offered some frank comments on the Bears‘ draft plans. The goal for the draft is quite simple:

“We’d like to come out of this draft with the third, fourth and fifth rounds with players that make it to Sunday, meaning they dress [on the 45-man active game-day roster]. Naturally when you don’t have the first two picks, it’s very difficult to put a stamp on a player and say that we feel very strongly that he’s going to come in and potentially start. Very difficult to do. We found it very difficult to do with a first-rounder, let alone a third-rounder.”

So Jerry wants to get guys that will dress on Sundays. Like his picks over the last several years? Most of the picks can barely avoid getting redshirted by one of those mysterious preseason injuries. Either that or we get force-fed Garrett Wolfe, who never should have been drafted in the first place.
