It will really be a new era for the Chicago Bears next season. Besides a new head coach, the Bears will have a new special teams coordinator for the first time since Dave Toub joined Lovie Smith’s staff back in 2004. Toub, who was interviewed for the Bears vacant head coaching position, is not expected to return when the new regime moves into Halas Hall. Toub is expected to join Andy Reid’s staff in Kansas City as Special Teams coordinator. (more…)

As the Bears prepare to face the Patriots this Sunday, there is one thing that they absolutely have to address from their win against the Lions. The Bears tackling was utterly horrendous, especially in the first half. I kept track during the game and I show that they missed 843 tackles in the first half alone. Really, go ahead and count for yourself. Against the Patriots, one half of bad football can put you in a 20 point hole, ask the Jets top ranked defense about that.

It was great to see Devin Hester back returning kickoffs for the Bears last Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. His 68 yard return in the 3rd quarter set up a Robbie Gould field goal that gave the Bears a 20-13 lead that they didn’t relinquish. Hester finished the day with 100 kick return yards and 47 punt return yards and was named NFC Special Team Player of the Week. My question is, why the heck did the Bears stop using him on kickoffs in the first place?
