Lovie and Marinelli were both position coaches under Tony Dungy in Tampa Bay.

Reunited and it feels so good...

In fairness to the Bears, Marinelli is regarded as a great defensive line coach and had long been on Lovie’s radar.   And just to show that he’ll fit in well with the Chicago way of doing business, McClure reports:

Marinelli’s hiring could lead ex-Lions defensive coordinator Joe Barry to the Bears as the linebackers coach. Barry is Marinelli’s son-in-law. The Bears have an opening at the position after firing Lloyd Lee.  Bob Babich is expected to remain the Bears defensive coordinator.

I’ll save my smart-ass comments about wishing Marinelli’s daughter had married a better coordinator.   But do you think they have a safety, linebacker, wide receiver and quarterback in the family???
