Shaun Gayle played 11 seasons for the Bears from 1984 to 1994. Early in his career he played mostly in sub-packages on defense and on special teams, famously returning the Sean Landeta muffed punt for a TD against the NY Giants in the 1985 NFC Divisional Playoff game. By 1989 Gayle was the team’s starting safety and played well, earning a Pro Bowl spot in 1991. He played one season in San Diego before retiring in 1995.
