After a week of training camp, how does Mitch Trubisky look?

It’s no secret that all eyes have been and will be on rookie QB Mitch Trubisky at Chicago Bears’ training camp. That’s not a surprise, that’s simply how it’s going to be when a team spends the second overall pick on their QB of the future and traded up to get him.

Trubisky has said all the right things and has been affable with the fans and media. The early returns were good at OTAs and minicamp but with such a limited practice sample, it was hard to read too much into it.

After a week of training camp, the reviews continue to be positive for Trubisky. Trubisky had some bumps early, fumbling several snaps (He has played almost exclusively in the shotgun his entire career), but when it comes to throwing the football, Trubisky has looked better than any of the four quarterbacks in camp.

First, it’s only practice. Trubisky’s arm doesn’t mean the Bears have Aaron Rodgers but it is certainly a good sign. The biggest issue Trubisky is going to face is actual game action. The bottom line, Trubisky has all the tools, but not a lot of experience. He will have to learn a lot during game action and there will be some growing pains.

Practice scrimmages will help him in some capacity, but he won’t really learn until the preseason games start, and even then, it won’t be the same as regular season action. Bears’ fans should be excited but reasonable. Trubisky wasn’t drafted to be an instant success. He was drafted to be the quarterback of the future, and right now he’s showing that he may very well be just that.

As a lifelong Bears fan and sports media professional, I'm very excited to bring my passion to the pages of BearGogglesOn. I've stuck with this team through it all. I've been there through the highs (I attended Super Bowl XX in person) and the lows (any game from the Dave Wannstedt era). I've enjoyed watching the likes of Mike Singletary and Brian Urlacher patrol the field, while I continue to wait for the team's first franchise quarterback since Sid Luckman. I know I'm no different than any other Bears' fan out there: thirsty for information and opinions on our beloved franchise and I hope this site is your first stop on your daily quest for Bears' news. While my job may have taken me from Chicago to New York City (these people really do believe their pizza is better than Chicago-style - sad, I know), it hasn't changed how much I love this team and I hope that passion comes through in every article of mine you read. The only thing better than writing about the Bears is talking about them with other fans so feel free to hit me up on email and Twitter and
