ARLINGTON, TX - SEPTEMBER 25: Ezekiel Elliott

The Chicago Bears have re-signed S Chris Prosinski.

With the injury to Leonard Floyd, the Chicago Bears were desperate for edge pass rushers and chose to bring back Lamarr Houston for the remainder of the season. Now, with the Bears dealing with an injury to Adrian Amos, they have decided to bring back yet another player they cut in August.

This one is a bit more puzzling. Houston made the roster out of camp and, before struggling with injuries, at least fit into the Bears 2017 plans to a degree. Prosinski (pictured above being hurdled by Zeke Elliott) was cut prior to the season, largely because, other than what he provides on special teams, he’s a liability defensively.

DeAndre Houston-Carson is also banged up, so perhaps the Prosinski move is specifically for special teams, but that still only leaves the Bears with Eddie Jackson and Deon Bush to play safety. Meaning, if any of them need some snaps off or are injured, Prosinski will be forced into action in the secondary.

You have to question if the Bears would have been better off activating Deiondre Hall rather than signing Prosinski. Hall has been practicing the last couple of weeks after the Bears designated him to potentially return from his stint on IR.  In fact, the Bears have yet another option they could activate at safety.

With both Demps and Hall available to be activated off IR, was signing Chris Prosinski really necessary for the Bears? If Prosinski is forced to play defense this Sunday, you can bet your bottom dollar that Jimmy Garoppolo will be targeting him and exploiting his limited skill set.

This move is strictly a stopgap move with very little sight on the future. This is a very puzzling move for a 3-8 team that should be focused on finding legitimate players for their 2018 roster.

As a lifelong Bears fan and sports media professional, I'm very excited to bring my passion to the pages of BearGogglesOn. I've stuck with this team through it all. I've been there through the highs (I attended Super Bowl XX in person) and the lows (any game from the Dave Wannstedt era). I've enjoyed watching the likes of Mike Singletary and Brian Urlacher patrol the field, while I continue to wait for the team's first franchise quarterback since Sid Luckman. I know I'm no different than any other Bears' fan out there: thirsty for information and opinions on our beloved franchise and I hope this site is your first stop on your daily quest for Bears' news. While my job may have taken me from Chicago to New York City (these people really do believe their pizza is better than Chicago-style - sad, I know), it hasn't changed how much I love this team and I hope that passion comes through in every article of mine you read. The only thing better than writing about the Bears is talking about them with other fans so feel free to hit me up on email and Twitter and
