Coaching fails Chicago Bears who drop to 4-10

The Chicago Bears dropped both games of a season series to the Detroit Lions. The biggest culprit to the loss was the coaching staff

The Chicago Bears did not play well. However, they also showed up looking like a team completely unprepared and ready to play. When looking at the stat sheet, this was not a game that was out of the Bears hands.

First downs, yards, and third-down conversions were all close. One of the big differences was five penalties for 39 yards. That speaks to the coaching staff as not one particular player was the main culprit to 13 penalties. This was a group effort.

The other baffling number is rushing attempts. The Lions, who have the 30th best rushing offense ran the ball 19 times. Even with a ten point lead in the fourth quarter, the Lions were throwing. They still ran the ball four more times than the Chicago Bears, who have Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen. Do not talk about playing from behind. The Lions were up just 3-0 after one quarter. They have the 28th best rushing defense. Running the ball 15 times in the entire game is ridiculous.

Speaking of Cohen and Howard, neither were on the field when the Bears ran a third down play from the Lions five yard line. Mitchell Trubisky made a bad decision and threw an interception, but when you think about it he was forced to try to make a play. The coaches took away any threat of a run and any threat of misdirection. They took away the two best options Trubisky had, and doubled Dontrelle Inman, the next best option.

The Bears had the ball to close the game, and had they taken advantage on that play, they would have had the ball with a chance to tie or take the lead. There is no doubt that this team is being held back by the coaches. Hopefully, the Bears make the right choice in hiring a new one this year.
