BLOOMINGTON, MN - JANUARY 30: Trey Burton

The Chicago Bears continue to revamp the offense by inking TE Trey Burton.

Suddenly, the new look Chicago Bears offense is starting to take shape. After the massive news this morning that the team will be signing Allen Robinson on Wednesday, the news was followed up a few hours later that Trey Burton will also be headed to Chicago.

Ryan Pace is not messing around. $8 million per year is a hefty sum for a player that has only been utilized as a backup tight end so far in his career. But Burton made a lot of noise this past season in Philadelphia. He showed a lot of promise as a legitimate weapon and, of course, made a national name for himself thanks to the “Philly Special” in the Super Bowl.

With the young Mitch Trubisky manning the offense, suddenly that putrid offense with Kendall Wright, Dontrelle Inman and Markus Wheaton looks suddenly improved with Allen Robinson, Cam Meredith (returning from injury), Adam Shaheen (increased role), Trey Burton, and Tarik Cohen (with an offense that will utilize him better). Oh, and let’s not forget offensive MVP Jordan Howard.

The Bears offense could go from dismal to good in one offseason. Plus, keep in mind, Pace isn’t done. He’s almost certainly going to look to find a slot receiver to add to the mix and potentially bolster the offensive line. He will also probably address both the offensive line and the wide receiver position in the upcoming draft.

The Bears are officially done with the rebuild. They are ready to compete this year. It’s time to put it all together.

As a lifelong Bears fan and sports media professional, I'm very excited to bring my passion to the pages of BearGogglesOn. I've stuck with this team through it all. I've been there through the highs (I attended Super Bowl XX in person) and the lows (any game from the Dave Wannstedt era). I've enjoyed watching the likes of Mike Singletary and Brian Urlacher patrol the field, while I continue to wait for the team's first franchise quarterback since Sid Luckman. I know I'm no different than any other Bears' fan out there: thirsty for information and opinions on our beloved franchise and I hope this site is your first stop on your daily quest for Bears' news. While my job may have taken me from Chicago to New York City (these people really do believe their pizza is better than Chicago-style - sad, I know), it hasn't changed how much I love this team and I hope that passion comes through in every article of mine you read. The only thing better than writing about the Bears is talking about them with other fans so feel free to hit me up on email and Twitter and
