What can Fantasy Football owners expect from Tarik Cohen in 2018?

Tarik Cohen clearly has some special skills. It’s obvious the way he moves when he has the ball that he has the potential to have an incredible impact on any football game. Unfortunately, for as special as he appears, Cohen didn’t make too many significant plays in 2017.

That wasn’t really his fault, the Bears offense was stuck in 1948 and wasn’t able to take advantage of Cohen’s skill set. Yes, he had a great game against Atlanta and also had a game-changing play against Pittsburgh and the great return against San Francisco, but there wasn’t consistency to Cohen’s game.

That should change in 2018. Cohen is the perfect piece for Matt Nagy’s offense and he will be lined up all over the field, both at running back and at wide receiver. Nagy will get Cohen the ball with space to maneuver and make the defense tackle him in the open field, which won’t be easy.

Nagy’s offense, combined with Cohen having a year of experience under his belt should mean good things for Cohen in 2018. Last season Cohen had 723 yards from scrimmage with a 4.3 rushing average and a 6.7 receiving average. He also had three offensive touchdowns.

Cohen will still be sharing backfield duties with Jordan Howard who will get the lion’s share of the touches, but that presence doesn’t really impact Cohen. Cohen will never be a 20-touch a game player. He is a specialty player that can be a phenomenal weapon but won’t be relied upon to grind down the clock. Plus, Howard struggles in the passing game, he won’t impact Cohen much in that regard.

Cohen can’t be your RB1 or RB2 because he’s not a primary option and will have inconsistent games because of it. If you have him as your RB3 you should be pleased with your RB situation and if he’s your RB4, you should consider yourself having a very nice stable of running backs.

Tarik Cohen stat projections: 95 carries, 466 yards, 4.9 avg, 65 catches, 572 yards, 8.8 avg, 6 offensive TDs, 1 ST TD

As a lifelong Bears fan and sports media professional, I'm very excited to bring my passion to the pages of BearGogglesOn. I've stuck with this team through it all. I've been there through the highs (I attended Super Bowl XX in person) and the lows (any game from the Dave Wannstedt era). I've enjoyed watching the likes of Mike Singletary and Brian Urlacher patrol the field, while I continue to wait for the team's first franchise quarterback since Sid Luckman. I know I'm no different than any other Bears' fan out there: thirsty for information and opinions on our beloved franchise and I hope this site is your first stop on your daily quest for Bears' news. While my job may have taken me from Chicago to New York City (these people really do believe their pizza is better than Chicago-style - sad, I know), it hasn't changed how much I love this team and I hope that passion comes through in every article of mine you read. The only thing better than writing about the Bears is talking about them with other fans so feel free to hit me up on email and Twitter and
