4. Alex Bars health update

Along with Emanuel Hall, Alex Bars is looked at as one of the better UDFA lands in the entire draft. Bars likely would have been drafted in the top three rounds if he had declared after 2017. However, in 2018 he lost Quenton Nelson, Mike McGlinchey, and Harry Hiestand to the NFL and tore his ACL to cap it off a year that saw his stock go down.

Bars does not get Nelson and McGlinchey back, but he is reunited with Hiestand, his offensive line coach, and UDFA teammate Sam Mustipher. While Mustipher was able to get acclimated to the workings of practics, Bars was off on the side, rehabbing his ACL and learning new plays.

Matt Nagy did not have much to add but did say that he was excited to get a talented offensive lineman. He noted that next week will be a better understanding of what the team can and cannot do with him, and what his rehab table sounds like.

So, while Bars is behind schedule compared to other rookies, he is still in good shape with his ACL recovery. If Bars stays healthy, he can compete for a roster spot.
