Danny Trevathan injury

The defense held tough against a backup quarterback. That is great and everything, but they still had Driskel in scoring range to close the game. Did held tough but did not stomp out the backup in the way that they would last season.

It is a great defense but is not quite the same. Losing Akiem Hicks has been huge, as he is their second-best defensive player. We have seen the effects such as more double teams and less production out of Khalil Mack. The run defense has also let up in recent weeks.

While the run defense was solid on Sunday, Detroit has no run defense. The Bears also lost Danny Trevathan. Trevathan is a key run-stuffer in the middle of their defense. All of a sudden two of the best assets the Bears had on that side of the ball are out.

Trevathan also was calling plays, which will see a ripple effect as responsibilities change. The defense is not going to get better and there is a real case to be made it will get worse in spots as the year progresses. A win over Jeff Driskel does not help their case.
