Offensive Line

The offensive line is one of the most important positions in football, so I’ll be sharing who I think deserves to be on my Bears All-Decade team for the offensive line.

First up Roberto Garza.

Garza was originally drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the 4th round of the 2001 NFL draft (99th overall) and played his first four seasons in the NFL with Atlanta. After the 2004 season, Garza was acquired by the Bears in 2005. He played both left guard and right guard in his first season but ended up staying at right guard for the next four seasons.

He took over the guard position for Olin Kreutz from 2005-2011. Then he moved to the center position in 2011 as he was the only reliable piece on the offensive line after the rest of the line struggled to protect Cutler. He started in 48 games between 2011-2013 and started only 14 in 2014.

Cody Whitehair

The Bears drafted Whitehair in the 2nd round of the 2016 NFL draft (56th overall).

He played guard, tackle, and center at Kansas in college but has found his home at the center position with the Bears. He has played in every game since being drafted by the Bears and is the Bears’ best offensive lineman in 2019. After Trubisky struggled with him at left guard early on in 2019, Nagy made the switch and put Whitehair back to center, and Trubisky has looked more confident since.

Kyle Long

The Bears drafted Long in the 1st round of the 2013 NFL Draft (20th overall).

Despite having to deal with injuries over the last four years, Long will absolutely go down as one of the best linemen in Bears’ history. Played in every snap of his rookie season at right guard. He started in 47 out of 48 games during his first three years in the NFL. Has made three pro bowls.

Bobby Massie

None other than Bobby Massie. Who was originally drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the 4th round of the 2012 NFL draft (112th overall).

Recently signed a five-year extension worth $40 million dollars in January of 2019. He’s locked up long term and that’s a good sign for the Bears.

Charles Leno Jr.

Not really any other left tackles that deserve to be on my Bears All-Decade team other than Leno.

He was originally drafted by the Bears in the 7th round of the 2014 NFL draft (246th overall)

Since 2016, Leno has started in every game for the Bears at the left tackle position.
