Chicago Bears: Who should make the All-Decade Team?
Greg Olsen
So many options at the tight end position for the Bears, I mean you can go with Martellus Bennet or Greg Olsen. And I went with Olsen as apart of my Bears All-Decade team.
The Bears originally drafted Olsen in the first round of the 2007 NFL draft (31st overall)
In his first year in the NFL, Olsen played in 14 games, hauling in 39 receptions for 391 receiving yards and only two touchdowns. Not the start the Bears wanted for Olsen.
He ended up spending just four seasons in a Bears uniform. In those four years, Olsen had 1,981 receiving yards, 20 receiving touchdowns in 62 games, and 39 starts.
In 2011, the Bears went on to trade Olsen to the Carolina Panthers for a 2012 3rd round pick. Olsen supposedly did not fit Mike Martz’s scheme. However, he has been in Carolina for nine years now, where he has been one of the best tight ends in the league. In nine years, Olsen has 522 receptions, 6,451 receiving yards, and 39 receiving touchdowns.
The current team could use a tight end like Greg Olsen right about now. Too bad things did not work out for Olsen here in Chicago.
