Defense

The Chicago Bears had one of the best defenses during the 2010s. I will be doing one slide for the defensive side of my Bears All-Decade Team.

Brian Urlacher

Urlacher was the face of the Bears’ defense throughout the 2000s and well into the 2010s. He’s one of my favorite Bears of All-Time and was actually my very first Bears Jersey.

He was the Bears first-round pick in the 2000 NFL draft when he was selected 9th overall. When Urlacher was in his prime he was known as one of the best to play his position, which is very deserving. Played in 44 games throughout the 2010s, he had five interceptions, six fumble recoveries, and four sacks.

Urlacher decided it was time to hang up the cleats and retire in 2012. Five seasons after retiring Urlacher was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, becoming the first Bears linebacker inducted into the hall of fame since Mike Singletary was elected back in 1998.

Khalil Mack

Mack is an all-pro type of player in the NFL and is very deserving to be on my Bears All-Decade team.

Before the 2018 season got underway, the Bears surprised us Bears fans with making a huge trade when Pace went out and traded for Khalil Mack. Knowing how impactful he would be and how huge of a piece he would be for this defense heading into the 2018 season.

In his first year with the Bears, Mack had 12.5 sacks, 37 solo tackles, and 47 combined tackles. He was a big reason why the Bears had the best defense in the NFL all year in 2018.

Charles Tillman

One of the most underrated players throughout the 21st century, Tillman was a joy to watch every game day and is yet another one of my favorite players. Was the inventor of the famous Peanut Punch who would force 20 fumbles over his final five years with the Bears.

Tillman’s time with the Bears would come to an end after the 2014 NFL season since the Bears decided not to renew his contract during the offseason. Which I don’t get at all. He is still the Bears leader in career interceptions with a total of 36.

Eddie Jackson

Jackson was drafted by the Bears in the 4th round of the 2017 NFL draft (112th overall)

In just his second season in the NFL, Jackson was first team-all pro and was named to his first pro bowl after leading the league in interceptions with six. Like Mack, Jackson was also a very key part of making the Bears defense elite and one of the best in the NFL during the 2018 season.

He quickly established himself into one of the best safeties in the entire NFL.

Julius Peppers

If you didn’t like watching Peppers dominate in the Bears defense, then were you a true Bears fan?

The Bears signed Peppers during the 2010 offseason to a six-year deal worth $91.5 million dollars with $42 million guaranteed. In his first year with the Bears, he had 11 tackles for loss with 8 sacks and two interceptions and even was named first-team All-Pro, so you can say he showed out in his first year with Chicago.

In 64 games as a Bear, Peppers racked up 37.5 sacks, 10 forced fumbles, and 47 tackles for loss with two pro bowl appearances. Peppers ranks fourth on the NFL’s All-Time Sacks List, and will undoubtedly be inducted into the pro football hall of fame.

There you guys go, there is my Chicago Bears All-Decade Team. Some pretty tough decisions, but I think I made the right ones. If you were to make a Chicago Bears All-Decade team, who would be on your list?
