Cordarrelle Patterson breaks away for a 104-yard kick return touchdown
Not many people were paying attention when the Chicago Bears inked Cordarrelle Patterson to a 2-year deal back in 2019. In most games Bears fans are praying for a kick return touchdown because we know that more often than not, the offense struggles to generate points. Patterson seems to always find a way to boost Chicago’s team and you see the offense trying to use him more out of the backfield, but his specialty remains in the return game.
In Week 10 against Minnesota, the 104 yards that Patterson ran nearly surpassed the production of the offensive unit in the first half (117). He is the best thing Chicago has seen in the return game since Devin Hester left.
Patterson’s kick return against his former team puts him at 8 for his career, tying him with Joshua Cribbs and Leon Washington for the most all-time. The NFL has seen major setbacks in kick return scores due to rule changes, but Patterson still finds ways to make history despite the special team coaches that know not to kick to him.
This play has history written all over it. Patterson’s 104-yard return surpassed Gale Sayer’s 103-yard kickoff return on Sept. 7, 1967, for Chicago’s third-longest play in team history. Patterson now trails Hester and Nathan Vasher’s 108-yard return on the Bears all-time list. Fans can check out the rest here.
