Chicago Bears: Round 3, Pick No. 98 via NO

Following the 2019 FCS season, many NFL Scouts were getting extremely excited to see Spencer Brown take the next step in 2020. Unfortunately for him, FCS got their season moved to the spring and teams didn’t get to see him play this year. Regardless, this freak-of-nature has proven he can cut it at the next level.

Brown came to Northern Iowa as a tall, lanky tight end that was a zero-star prospect. The staff turned him into a star at offensive tackle. He earned playing time in 2018 as the right tackle before suffering an injury, but he came onto the scene in 2019 when he started every game and was named a Preseason All-American for 2020.

Brown stands over 6′ 8″ weighing 311 pounds and he can move like a tight end. He ran a 4.88 40 yard dash at his Pro Day and repped out 29 reps at the bench press. He showcased his athleticism at the Reese’s Senior Bowl in which he impressed by shutting down high-end competition after coming out a little rusty on the first day. He is a developmental offensive tackle.

As a developmental offensive tackle, Brown would be great for the Bears. The Bears could either then cut ties with Charles Leno and have Cosmi and Ifedi start at tackles with Brown competing with Ifedi or even keep Leno and let Brown learn. Regardless, Brown should sit early until he is ready for the jump from FCS to NFL and develops some improved technique.
