It’s about time one of the best Chicago Bears defensive players get into the Hall

Player #4: Wilber Marshall

If there is anyone who is long overdue on being in the Hall-of-Fame, it’s Wilber Marshall. Marshall didn’t even play most of his career in Chicago but the man had his best years here. Whether he is inducted as a Bear or not, Marshall is more deserving than Julian Edelman.

Marshall was drafted 11th overall by the Bears in 1984. He would play for the Bears for four seasons before heading to Washington in 1988. Marshall was a very productive player throughout his whole career but he was special in Chicago. Being a part of arguably the best defense of all time certainly can make life easy on a young player.

Something I found impressive is that Marshall stood out in a very good linebacker room. A room that also housed a Hall-of-Famer in Mike Singletary and another fantastic player in Otis Wilson. It’s a shame that Wilber couldn’t play his whole, or even most of his career in Chicago.

He was a three-time Pro-Bowler, twice in Chicago, and made First-Team All-Pro twice. His lone Chicago appearance coming in1986. It’s a shame that Marshall has yet to make the Hall-of-Fame and at this point, it may be too late but he is definitely deserving of consideration. He may even be the biggest Hall-of-Fame snub in the team’s history.
