Too often fans and analysts get obsessed with what they want to do. They often forget that everyone has differing opinions and what they want does not matter nearly as much as what the actual GM wants. Too often you hear oh Ryan Pace would never… and find out that yes, he would trade for Nick Foles and sign Andy Dalton. So, when predicting who the Chicago Bears will draft and what they will do, you have to put yourself in the shoes of Ryan Pace. Everything Pace has done has the look for a GM who thinks that he can draft a QB high this offseason and save his job.

First off, many fans want the Bears to draft an offensive line. After 2020, it would seem insane for Ryan Pace not to draft the line high. However, the spin that used to keep his job was that the line took a step forward at the end of the season. HE found Sam Mustipher, who now can start at center. Ryan Pace likely thinks with James Daniels and Cody Whitehair at guard, the interior is set.

He has consistently believed in Charles Leno more than fans, and while signing Germain Ifedi is nothing, adding Elijah Wilkinson brings in two players who started most of their 2020 at right tackle. Pace could see competition and an offseason of Ifedi at RT being what keeps him from drafting OL.

We know that Pace is not drafting running back, and tight end, and while the receiver could be the pick, Pace still has not traded Anthony Miller and he brought back Allen Robinson.

We know that Pace is not drafting the defensive line, and while you may not believe in Robert Quinn, Ryan Pace nearly has to. He also traded a future pick for Trevis Gipson, so he is not giving up on that yet. Add in that he signed Jeremiah Attachou, and he is not drafting edge whether you want him to or not.

At linebacker, he very boldly signed Danny Trevathan and obviously has an affinity for Roquan Smith. Add in that he signed Christian Jones, and LB is down the list of needs. He absolutely will draft a cornerback, but safety is all but complete with Tashaun Gipson in the mix.

Ryan Pace could go WR but is more likely to go CB based on his history. However, Pace could also see that Mooney, Robinson, Jaylon Johnson, and Desmond Trufant are in their spots. A slot receiver in the mid-rounds and a late slot corner is the Ryan Pace special.

When you really breakdown not how you view the Bears roster, but how Ryan Pace does, and you look at the needs on the roster, Ryan Pace could be all-in on a quarterback.

He has eight picks this draft and could package a few to move up. Looking at the roster, Pace likely does not even believe that eight draft picks could make the roster. Do not be surprised when Ryan Pace is aggressive for a QB.
