Chicago Bears Round 3, Pick No. 83

The Bears need to continue to attack offense as their offense has been a joke the past few seasons. In doing so, they now need to add a wide receiver in which they add Western Michigan wide receiver D’Wayne Eskridge, who they have been in contact with.

Eskridge immediately saw the field as a freshman at Western Michigan, but it took time before he truly started to contribute. He then was a three-year starter fully showing his home-run ability averaging over 20 yards per reception in 2018, 2019, and 2020. In just six games in 2020, he racked up over 750 passing yards and had eight receiving touchdowns as well. Eskridge additionally returned kicks in 2020 averaging 27.5 yards per return and had a touchdown as well.

Eskridge is a home-run threat at all times. Like those averages show, he is explosive with the ball in his hands. He makes up for his small stature with his ability to take any play to the house. Eskridge needs some refinement before he can become a star as his route tree is limited, but once he expands that, he will be an instant threat.

Putting Eskridge in the slot with Darnell Mooney on the outside and Marquise Goodwin rotating in would make the Bears’ offense one of the fastest in the NFL. On top of that speed, they have an elite possession receiver in Allen Robinson. The Bears’ wide receiver core would be near impossible to shut down and would provide Justin Fields with plenty of opportunities.
