Chicago Bears: Is Justin Fields the next Russell Wilson or even Cam Newton?

Considering how excited Bears fans were when the Russell Wilson news broke after the Chicago Bears made his shortlist of teams he would be traded to, it’s fair to say that Bears fans fell in love with Wilson a bit too early.

However, flirting with Wilson might’ve prepared them for what’s to come in Chicago, and his name is Justin Fields.

When prompted to share who Fields emulated as a child in the backyard, Fields responded with a familiar face: Cam Newton. However, as Fields got older, his expectations grew, and the game he tried to emulate transferred from Cam Newton to Russell Wilson.

"“When I was younger, maybe 8th or 9th grade, it was more Cam Newton. These past couple years have kind of more turned into a Russell Wilson type quarterback. With both of those quarterbacks, we have a lot of similaties between extending plays with our legs and also having the arm talent."

Considering the fact that the Bears have been in talks with obtaining both Cam Newton and Russell Wilson in the recent past makes hearing this quote even better, especially being able to get a 22-year-old mashup of the two with, dare I say, a higher ceiling.
