Andy Dalton will be the Chicago Bears Week 1 starter at quarterback

I know that everyone wants to see Justin Fields under center versus the Rams in Week 1. The thing is, despite a major injury in the offseason or preseason, Andy Dalton will be the starting quarterback versus the Rams. In fact, I even believe should Dalton go down with an injury, Nick Foles would start over Justin Fields in that scenario.

This does not mean that Justin Fields isn’t the better quarterback, but it will take some time for Fields to adjust to the game and Andy Dalton steps in with plenty of experience. Not to mention, he has plenty of familiarity with offensive coordinator, Bill Lazor.

We heard this before with Nick Foles. However, as someone who wanted Andy Dalton, last season should he become available for “free” or “cheap” — both happened but Ryan Pace was too impatient — Dalton is not Foles and has and forever will be a more talented quarterback. Yes, I do not care about Foles’ Super Bowl MVP award, Dalton is a better quarterback.

In fact, Dalton will likely keep Justin Fields off the field for at least the first part of the season. I took a look already at how the Bears will likely handle Justin Fields. If history tells us anything, the soonest we will see Fields is Week 5. Sorry to disappoint Bears fans, but Dalton will be the Week 1 starter and I am still hopeful Fields backs him up while the Chicago Bears find a way to move Nick Foles for peanuts.
