Danny Trevathan is still an injury risk for the Chicago Bears

Another defensive player, I know. What can I say, this side of the ball comes with more cortisone shots and bandages. Danny Trevathan started all 16 games in 2020. Then why is he even being mentioned here? Well, Trevathan comes with a lengthy injury list prior to the Chicago Bears. He even had some injury issues here in Chicago.

At 31 years old, age is always going to be looming over Trevathan’s head. However, what is even more concerning is the fact he’s been in the league nine years and only played in all 16 games in three of those seasons. One of those seasons was his rookie year when he played in all 16 games but did not start any of them.

While in Chicago, Trevathan has played in 62 of 80 games. Not the best track record. Especially since Trevathan has two of his three full seasons here in the Windy City. Honestly, I was shocked to see him get a contract extension heading into 2020 based on that injury history and his age. Trevathan struggled early in 2020 but found his groove as the season progressed. He finished with 113 combined (67 solos) tackles and one sack.

We saw a change of the guard last year when Roquan Smith took ownership of this defense. He is now the young leader of that side of the ball and Trevathan is not likely to see another contract from the Chicago Bears.

Although in no particular order, these are the five guys to be most concerned about getting hurt once again. Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn are honorable mentions as they dealt with injuries all season long. Hopefully, this team can once again avoid the injury bug for the most part and find themselves healthy come playoff time — if they are lucky enough to end up there again.
