The Chicago Bears should take a big picture look at Ryan Pace

I would like to add a bit of a big picture look at the keep or fire Ryan Pace debate. Quite often in this modern era once a person commits to an opinion they often fall into this trap. Once an opinion is taken they are not objective about the value of this opinion. Very often, we look for reasons to support our opinion and strongly resist evidence that counters this opinion. I very much believe this relates to the Ryan Pace debate.

On top of this phenomenon, another factor is in play. Sports fans get angry when their teams fail. Opinions formed when angry typically result in an opinion lacking objectivity. Important decisions always need a strong element of objectivity. Again I believe this relates to the current Ryan Pace debate. Whether he is the Bears general manager or president, I want to see what Ryan Pace can do for the Bears with a very good head coach.

If there was some great general manager prospect available to the Chicago Bears at this time then it would be a different story. However, no general manager option who can be described as great appears to be available to the Bears.

We know Pace has made some big mistakes as general manager and we know he has improved a lot with his draft choices. His biggest mistakes were Matt Nagy, Mitch Trubisky, and Mike Glennon. Nagy certainly contributed to Trubisky’s failure as the Bears’ starting quarterback. On top of that, these three big mistakes all occurred within the first three years of Pace’s time as general manager.

For all the reasons stated in this article I am quite relieved that the latest rumors are that Ryan Pace will stay with the Chicago Bears in one capacity or another.
