Chicago Bears GM Candidate: 12
JoJo Wooden – Chargers, Director of Player Personnel

JoJo Wooden has been with the Chargers for nine years. He oversees the pro and college scouting departments. Prior to his time in Los Angeles (and San Diego), Wooden spent 16 seasons with the New York Jets (1997-2012). He has worked his way up as an assistant, to a pro scout, to assistant director of pro scouting, to director of pro scouting, to assistant director of player personnel and finally to director of player personnel.

The Chargers have been a middle-of-the-pack team with one strong season sprinkled in during JoJo Wooden’s time with the Chargers. If we look at this team, it has underperformed greatly, consistently just missing the playoffs. Outside of a few standout names, nothing excites me about Wooden as the next general manager of the Bears.

Chicago Bears GM Candidate: 11
Champ Kelly – Bears, Assistant Director of Player Personnel

There is nothing wrong with Champ Kelly. In fact, I hope that one day he lands a general manager job. If I were ranking these guys less specifically for the Bears, then Kelly would probably be a couple of spots higher on my list. The problem is, I am putting my Chicago Bears bias into play here, and although Kelly’s time in Chicago has been relatively short (4 years), I want to see the organization completely clean house.

With the Chicago Bears, Anthony “Champ” Kelly has overseen pro player evaluations, advance scouting, free agency, the Canadian Football League (CFL). He also helped the college scouting department with evaluations and trade ideas regarding the NFL draft.

He wouldn’t be ranked high enough for me to ignore he’s been in Chicago the last four years and as I said, we need to see this team clean house.
