Chicago Bears GM Candidate: 3
Morocco Brown – Colts, Director of College Scouting

Morocco Brown has a big connection with Chicago Bears hiring consultant Bill Polian. Polian hired Brown to be a scouting intern for the Colts in the summer of 2000. He didn’t stick though and had to move on. He ended up moving onto Washington for a year before landing with the Chicago Bears in 2001. He served as assistant director of pro personnel with the Bears from 2001 to 2007.

One could look at this as a, wow he was that great to be promoted to such a high position so quickly. Others might view it as the Chicago Bears doing what they do best — cut corners and hire guys who may not be qualified. Well, let’s not forget those 2001-2007 years was during the Lovie Smith era — easily the best era of the Bears since Mike Ditka and Buddy Ryan days.

Morocco Brown went back to Washington in 2008 as their director of pro personnel before accepting another promotion to vice president of player personnel, this time with the Browns. That team was blown up in 2016 and Brown moved onto the Colts where he has held a position ever since. As director of college scouting, he helped land Quenton Neslon, Braden Smith, Darius Leonard and Grover Stewart. Seems that he’d be able to help rebuild the Chicago Bears offensive line.

Although he hasn’t been asked back for a second interview yet, some believe that he will see one. He just had his interview yesterday, therefore it makes sense that it might take a day or two before a second request. Many are speculating Bill Polian is pushing for Morocco Brown and Matt Eberflus to bhe the next general manager and head coach combination.
