5 Senior Bowl offensive lineman Chicago Bears must watch
3. Darian Kinnard, Kentucky
Darian Kinnard is a three-year starter at right tackle. Despite being an experience SEC tackle, there are many in the NFL who believe that he should be moving to guard in the NFL. The big reason is that his best traits at tackle can translate, and his worst traits will not be exposed nearly as much.
Kinnard is a punisher. He is physical and can overwhelm his opponents with power. Kinnard finishes plays and is better at getting downhill as a run blocker than anything else. The issue with him is that his feet are still very sloppy.
His hand placement can be poorly timed and can lead to defenders getting their hands inside of his chest. From there he can be dedicated to the direction he goes. His struggles as a pass protector will be much smaller on the inside than they will be at tackle.
Of course, this is a projection, but this is something that Kinnard has looked into and will be willing to do at the Senior Bowl. Keep an eye on his snaps, particularly at guard.
