These 6 Chicago Bears should be announced as season-long Captains

Chicago Bears Captain No. 1: Justin Fields, QB
While the stat sheet doesn’t show it, Justin Fields had a rookie season that shouldn’t scare anyone, specifically the Chicago Bears staff and roster.
Each week that Fields strapped up his helmet and laced up his cleats, there was a continued progression. That’s something I’ve preached since Fields was drafted and played his first snap. If each week provides signs of progress, I’m a happy camper, and I’m excited about Justin Fields’ future.
As I’ve said in plenty of articles by now, Fields showed obvious signs of progression throughout his rookie season, and not only was he progressing on the field, but I’d argue he’s been as impressive off the field.
One of the biggest contributors to Fields’ personality is his ability to tune out the noise and focus on the main goal. Never do you see Fields lose his cool when things don’t go the Bears’ way— which is unfortunately rather common lately.
Along with everything stated, it’s somewhat common courtesy to have your quarterback be one of your captains, especially when they’re as locked-in as Justin Fields. I think it’s clear to say that Justin Fields would be cemented in as Chicago Bears Captain No. 1.
Not to mention, this season will be the first season when Justin Fields is truly given the keys to the QB1 mobile. Given all the drama around the quarterback competition between Justin Fields and Andy Dalton last season, it was clear that Fields wasn’t as comfortable being that main voice, as he constantly showed respect to the fact that the coaches call the shots.
Now that he has the keys, even Justin Fields knows his voice will be heard more.
This might’ve been an obvious choice as a captain, but who’s next?
