The Chicago Bears are currently building their staff for the 2022 season. It has been a very thorough process that started by bringing in outside sources to go through the entire Bears organization. George McCaskey and the Board wanted to get outside opinions and thoughts on where the team stands and what they should be doing to improve things. A big name that was consulted in the hiring process was Bill Polian.

We’ve discussed the hiring process the Chicago Bears have gone through this offseason enough already and therefore I won’t go over it all again. Instead, the nitty-gritty of the process was that Polian and George McCaskey interviewed a total of 23 candidates (13 general managers and 10 head coaches). After they settled on Ryan Poles as the next general manager, Polian’s time was done with the Bears.

Poles then interviewed the three head coaches left on the Bears shortlist and Poles settled on Matt Eberflus as the next head coach. The staff has been rounded out with mostly inexperienced coordinators and positional coaches who all took steps forward into positions they have either never held before or only held for a short time prior. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out, I just hope it doesn’t ruin Justin Fields.

Speaking of Justin Fields, let’s stop with the focus on the coaches and front office for this article, shall we? Bill Polian was on ESPN 1000 recently, speaking on the Waddle and Silvy Show about the Chicago Bears roster. He spoke about how while interviewing head coaches and general managers, the general consensus was that the Chicago Bears have six to eight blue-chip players. Polian stated that was not enough though, he said teams need 10 to 12 blue-chippers to be a contender.

I went through the roster and I believe these to be the eight blue-chip players currently on the Chicago Bears roster.
