1. Harrison Smith

You cannot roll your eyes at the idea when Jared Allen spent some of his last days with the Chicago Bears. Of course, that was not some dream end to his career, but it is still possible.

Harrison Smith is 32 years old, which is the same age that Jared Allen was when he signed with Chicago. Beyond that, the Vikings can save $11.55M by moving on from Smith this offseason. At the very least, a contract restructure is in order.

One thing to mention is an entirely new coaching staff and front office. They do not have sentimental ties to Smith. They also hired a young analytics-centered GM, who is unlikely to want to pay an aging safety top of the market money.

With that in mind, Harrison Smith is not a lock to finish his career in Minnesota. If he was let go, the Chicago Bears could be a perfect fit. Eddie Jackson moves around a lot, but would be better off as a center field safety who does not have to tackle and would be better picking passes off.

On the flip side, Smith moves around even more than Jackson, but is best in the box, mainly because he lost a step, but more so because he is a tackle machine. Smith and Jackson would be a nice duo, and for the right price would be a great fit. It is worth following, just in case.
