The Chicago Bears should sign wide receiver Jakobi Meyers

Another positive story and a guy who rounds out this list is former North Carolina State wide receiver Jakobi Meyers. Going undrafted back in 2019, Meyers signed with the Patriots — maybe the best team any undrafted free agent could sign with as Bill Belichick uses those types of players to prove he’s still the best coach in the game.

Since then, Meyers has ascended to one of the top receiving options in New England and is more of a possession type of receiver. He’s a guy who gets open and catches the football. Meyers’ route running is very good, and he’s got above-average hands as well.

Last year, Meyers enjoyed the best year of his career as he caught 83 passes for 866 yards and his first pair of NFL touchdowns.

The 6-foot-2 Meyers could come in and play either outside or in the slot, but he might function best lining up inside. With his size and ability to use his body to get open and make it easy on his quarterback, the slot seems to be his best option in Chicago.

With Meyers signed, along with Mooney, the Bears could then go for a more dynamic receiver in this year’s draft. Meyers would come cheaper, but he’d be an incredibly underrated signing for the Bears.
