Maybe the most boring wide receiver prospect in the top three rounds has to be Purdue’s David Bell. However, he’s boring for all the reasons people love to watch the Combine. Bell has average speed and athleticism, but nothing earth-shattering.

He is the type of receiver who simply does all of the right little things. Bell’s ability to get open is uncanny. He is absolutely dominant at the top of his route and uses excellent footwork to find himself open. But, he also knows how to use his body to position himself well in front of the quarterback, making it an easier throw and catch.

Bell is one who relishes making the right play. He has very good ball skills and rarely drops a pass. He’s also great after the catch, looking to turn up field immediately after securing the grab. You never have to guess whether or not Bell is going to make the play. More often than not, he makes it.

Projecting best as an outside receiver, Bell especially excels at taking short routes and making work of defensive backs as he gains additional yardage. Whether it’s a screen, slant or comeback route, he is extremely good at executing those shorter routes.
