The Chicago Bears should risk signing free agent cornerback Chris Harris

One of the most painful spots for the Bears last year was at slot cornerback. The team has not had an answer there since the likes of a healthy Bryce Callahan. Last year, Chicago tried Duke Shelley for much of the year and also saw Marqui Christian step in at one point.

Both of those players are below average options, and the Bears could be looking at a new slot starter going into the 2022 season. One option they have would be to go out and sign veteran Chris Harris, who most recently spent the last two years with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Harris will be 33 years old when the season kicks off, but he is a four-time Pro Bowl selection and former All-Pro. Over his 11-year career, Harris has tallied 98 passes defensed and 22 interceptions.

He would be a big risk because he’s not played his best football the last three or four years. Harris has taken a step back, for sure, but if the Bears have a strong pass rush, that would make things easier on the veteran. If he came in at a cheap price, Harris would be worth signing for a 1-year contract.
