Marquis Hayes NFL comparison

After the NFL Combine, we are able to look at some similar profiles of NFL players based on the athletic measurements that Marquis Hayes posted. You can see that there are a few NFL comparisons for Marquis Hayes.

The first one to Nate Davis may be the best from an on-field perspective. Nate Davis went to Charlotte and was rawer than Hayes as a high school prospect. However, as both entered the NFL draft they were viewed as better run blockers who have a streak of nasty and need to be reeled in a bit in pass protection.

This caused Davis to fall to 82nd overall. However, this is also where the Tennessee Titans found a steal and a three-year starter going into year four of his career. Davis still has issues in pass protection, but the impact he makes in freeing Derrick Henry on the ground is well worth it, and you see his demeanor show on NFL tape.

The big difference between the two is the length which makes Ron Leary a potential similar comparison. Leary is another player who jumped right into the NFL as a rookie and found his way quickly by becoming a trusted run blocker and starting guard.

B.J. Finney is the low-end NFL comparison, mainly stemming from Leary and Davis being a bit more explosive athletically. Finney is limited by length much more than Hayes, though, and if Finney had more length, you could argue he would be looked at as a quality starter, perhaps a tier below Nate Davis.
