Allen Robinson shouldn’t be in the running for the Chicago Bears

Listen, this is not just about the fact that I don’t think Allen Robinson is a good fit for Justin Fields, but I also want to see Allen Robinson move onto a playoff contender. As much as we all would love to see it happen, the Chicago Bears are not going to be playoff contenders in 2022. Robinson would be better off moving onto a team that is not in a rebuild or even a reboot for that matter.

Personally, I find Allen Robinson the top wide receiver free agent in regards to talent. That said, the difference in talent levels between Robinson and some of these other top receivers is not as great as you may think. Robinson is a volume-type receiver who needs plenty of targets thrown in his direction. Without those targets, we saw what happened last season. Robinson also has an issue with separation. This alone is why I don’t find him a good fit for Justin Fields.

Outside of Matt Nagy having the inability to use his players correctly, Robinson didn’t do himself any favors with how he handled himself last season. He wasn’t outspoken in any way during the season and was a perfect citizen within the Bears organization. However, on the field, he was clearly showing a lack of effort throughout most of the season. The problem is, that effort goes beyond the 2021 season. He has never shown much effort when the ball wasn’t going in his direction. I’m not sure he even knows how to throw a block.

On top of all of this, if he is to see $18 to $20 million on average per season, that is just too much to be spending. This is why he falls to WR3 in my rankings.
