Next up for the Chicago Bears should be DJ Chark

If you want a vertical threat with speed, DJ Chark is that guy. The problem with Chark has always been his inability to remain healthy. He has never played more than 15 games and he’s once again coming off a major injury. In his rookie year, Chark missed five games due to a calf injury. In 2019, Chark only missed one and a half games due to an ankle sprain. During his 2020 season, Chark had an abundance of injuries. He dealt with a chest injury, back injury, ankle sprain, ribs, and shin injury. He missed three games that year.

Last year, Chark suffered the biggest blow. He only played in four games before going on season-ending injured reserve due to a fractured ankle. Chark should be fine for the 2022 season, but the injury definitely is a concern.

My biggest concern with Chark though is his inconsistencies. He has a career catch rate of only 55.5% and has seen years of over 60%, while also having two seasons under 50%. His 2019 season was his best as he topped 1,000 yards receiving on 73 catches (118 targets). Chark also scored eight touchdowns that year. His 2020 season was not bad either and he’d make for a great X receiver for Justin Fields. Chark doesn’t have any true drop issues, therefore, with a more consistent quarterback, we should hope to see a more consistent DJ Chark.
