The Lions will have plenty of opportunities to snipe the Chicago Bears

When we look at the 2022 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions have more holes than the Chicago Bears. The difference is that the Detroit Lions have more draft capital than the Bears. I am not talking about a small difference either. The Lions have nine draft picks and four of those are within the top 100. The Bears on the other hand only have six draft picks. Luckily, three of those are in the top 100. As a Justin Fields proponent, I’m fine with them not having their first-rounder.

I ran multiple mock drafts through multiple simulators and pulled the players who were selected most often at each selection for each of the NFC North rivals. With the second-overall pick, the two names that popped up most for the Lions were Kyle Hamilton, Safety out of Notre Dame and Kayvon Thibodeaux, Edge out of Oregon.

Honestly, I am a little shocked that Hamilton went that high that often, but from a talent standpoint it shouldn’t be surprising. Hamilton might be the top player in the draft, but his position could push him down some. Either player would be an awesome start for the Lions though.

The Lions actually have three picks in the 2022 NFL Draft before the Bears get to make their first selection at 39. The next pick they own is 32. Looking at who the Lions took most, the three names that popped up the most were Devin Lloyd, linebacker out of Utah, Jaquan Brisker, safety out of Penn State and Kenyon Green, guard out of Texas A&M. Seeing Green go at 32 was toughest as the Chicago Bears clearly need more help at the guard spot.

Finally, the Lions also have the 34th-overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Treylon Burks, wide receiver out of Arkansas was the biggest snipe. I would honestly be shocked if he fell that far, but seeing him go even in these mock drafts was disappointing. The Lions took a safety, EDGE rusher, wide receiver and interior offensive linemen most often with these three picks. We could see the Chicago Bears sniped by the Lions with two of their three picks before 39.
