Chicago Bears who need a dominant training camp: Chase Allen, TE

Say hello to a fan favorite. That’s right, many fans are very excited about Chase Allen being on this team as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa State. Allen stands 6’7″ and weighs in at 250 pounds. He was a five-year collegiate athlete who saw some success over his final three years. During those three years, Allen caught 62 balls for 687 yards and six touchdowns.

When I look at the depth chart, the tight end position has some solid names. Cole Kmet is the clear favorite to start. Ryan Griffin, James O’Shaughnessy and Rysen John are the top-three options behind Kmet. I do not suspect that Chase Allen surpasses any of these three without a dominant training camp. Should he find a way to make his mark, then it’s possible he lands the last roster spot allocated to the tight end position.

If Allen does not make the final 53-man roster, he does have a good chance of making the practice squad. Personally, this is the only way I think Allen lands with the Chicago Bears in 2022.
