6. Jaylon Jones

Jaylon Jones is a rookie UDFA from Ole Miss. He has spent most of the training camp In the slot but did not get onto the field during the Chicago Bears’ final preseason game. The team elected to roll with Kyler Gordon in the slot during the first half, then went with Duke Shelley in the slot in the second half.

The team gave Shelley a chance to prove himself and make the roster, but if he does not make the team, he is much more likely to go somewhere else, considering this front office did not draft him.

So, the team likely gave Shelley a chance to show other teams what he could do, knowing that they have Jaylon Jones coming back on the practice squad.

Jones was burnt a couple of times in the preseason, but that is no surprise considering his status. Still, considering that is on the little tape that he has shown, this is not a player who is going to get claimed. He will circle back, and the Chicago Bears will likely keep him over Shelley as their depth in the slot.
